Colder winds they drift down from the north Makes the moss upon the tree trunks quiver as they sway In this island town, surrounded by the Puget Sound As we walk through the forest in the morning rain Whoa… Whoa.. In the days before the trees were all cut down We would walk beneath the branches in the falling rain Travel through the morning mist, to a lighthouse seldom seen Stoic as the mountains on a winter’s day Waking in the night, to the sound of distant thunder Echoes from the mountains to the sea Mount Constitution rises high about the Sullen waves and the turning tide and the trail we travel far and wide Whoa…

Can you find your way back home with no one telling you which way to go Lost in the forest, treetops shrouded in snow A cold November evening telling me it’s bound to snow But I’m fine for now as a shadow in the moonlit glow Can you see the dark star, fade into light Lonely eyes are gazing See the one that shines on you tonight As the spirit of the land awakens Can you watch the tall trees, sway and bend with the wind Can you follow the river, far beyond it’s end Can you speak to the mountains, the wind, the earth and sky In the winter of the north, where the birds no longer fly Can you see the snowflakes fall down from the clouds On a cold and dreary day See the moon on the edge of the western sky As it slowly fades away

Patterns shimmer as I swim through the clouds in the sky A yellow lantern glows in the driveway where I park my ’51 Chev tonight Through the autumn evening clouds, the northern lights soon will appear Timothy Leary lives right up the coast, half an hour’s drive from here Gaze upon this crescent, all these visions do I see Bioluminescence, in the spirits of the dreams As she walks through the garden, a voice calls out to me Back in the days when you crept through the haze, and the mountains spoke to me Strange as it seems as reality creeps through the trees Sky it turns grey or white I don’t care, I can only see the clouds in my mind Farther below the rain, images fade into view Laughing in the darkness I can only imagine, a part of this vision so true You can ride the lonely ocean tonight Floating like a sea bird in flight Through the cosmic sea of green clouds and light You can ride the lonely ocean tonight

High on a mountain, empty as a ghost town in the rain See the wisdom of the elders, slowly washed away Carved in the branches of the trees, lies the legend of the mountains Long ago she told me Sit and start cross the poppy fields At the sky which is slowly turning gray Do beware of the crops that we yield Because they might just as soon go away Fortune teller in a black silk dress Stays in the township for the night Children hoping for her best Wishes before she takes flight Where have all the people gone to now Stolen all the sailboats, left for other towns Waved goodbye, to the mountains in a shroud Of fog that surrounds us, with a burden weighing down Sit and stare cross the meadows At the tall grass longing for the wind Flowing like the crest of a wave Taking us there and back again Long lost one of the mountain town Walks through the garden in the rain Wanders through the meadow dust Telling stories of the sailors, set to sea long ago, stories that we may never know
5.
Mountain lodge in the distance, can I find the way Mountain lodge in the distance, how long can I stay How long must I wait, like a ghost on the shore Saunter through the darkness, ‘till I can see no more Sifting through the sands of time, as we ride beneath the sun Long way from the oceanside, searching for the chosen one Alone in the afterglow of the wake of the storm Alone in the shadow of the tide Mountain Lodge in the prairie, in the tall green grass Mountain lodge by the seaside, how long will it last How long will the legend travel through the generations How far can I see through the dark Shadow in the darkness, calling me back home Lost in the ringing of the telephone Searching for the answer, deep within the snow But until tomorrow, we may never know

The Owl Song 05:10
An owl on a fence post, the moon is rising in the sky This house stands like a fortress, a prison in my mind Many years ago now, we would walk upon this hillside Waiting for the sunset, listening to the tide This house it ain’t home and I feel so alone, all these memories keep flooding my mind The birds in the trees they have all long since flown, the spirit has been left behind The cars they don’t run and I can’t see the sun, all the clouds form a shroud over me Thought that I’d roam this land one again, but it ain’t what it used to be All the windows are all broken, everything is falling down The willow tree that we used to climb, has long since been cut to the ground The books that I used to read, they’re all covered in dust The classic car that I tried to restore, has long since been covered in rust All the birds that used to sing to the morning, have all taken to the sky The hard times they came without any warning, and we were just left here to sigh They hit like a runaway train, and everything was forever changed All the memories that I have embraced, it just ain’t the same

We walked these frozen shores in 1967 With the promise that the afterglow would be alright Deep within the shadows, I see someone at the water’s edge Where are they going and who could they be I followed you through the morning mist, beyond the evening sun With the haze that gathers in my mind, you’re an outlaw Traveling through the only land I know Seeking truth in the rivers that honestly flow, unto the great unknown We burned down the shack seven years ago Headed for a new life in the hills Leaving behind the past in a ’47 Pontiac Skipping town before the thrill Farther we may ride, through the desert sky at night Silent as the mountains, like an owl in flight With the grace of falling rain, and only you by my side And the powers of the wind beckon me to ride

In an ancient redwood forest, sits an eagle in a tree High above the waters, of curiosity A legend stands before us, older than you and I High above the ocean, the wind, the earth and sky Ooooooh… Ooooooh… The people of the village, gathered far and wide To witness the birth oof a legend taking to the sky
