An owl on a fence post, the moon is rising in the sky
This house stands like a fortress, a prison in my mind
Many years ago now, we would walk upon this hillside
Waiting for the sunset, listening to the tide

This house it ain’t home and I feel so alone, all these memories keep flooding my mind
The birds in the trees they have all long since flown, the spirit has been left behind
The cars they don’t run and I can’t see the sun, all the clouds form a shroud over me
Thought that I’d roam this land one again, but it ain’t what it used to be

All the windows are all broken, everything is falling down
The willow tree that we used to climb, has long since been cut to the ground
The books that I used to read, they’re all covered in dust
The classic car that I tried to restore, has long since been covered in rust

All the birds that used to sing to the morning, have all taken to the sky
The hard times they came without any warning, and we were just left here to sigh
They hit like a runaway train, and everything was forever changed
All the memories that I have embraced, it just ain’t the same
